Eagles LB Jihaad Campbell observed rookie minicamp with the inside linebacker group on Friday, as he recovers from offseason shoulder surgery.

Campbell underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder back in March, and he was not expected to participate in the Eagles’ rookie minicamp. His attendance as an observer can be viewed as an overall positive development. Campbell’s grouping with the inside linebackers is noteworthy since he thrived as an inside linebacker and part-time EDGE at Alabama, and The Athletic’s Brooks Kubena notes, Eagles GM Howie Roseman “refused to categorize Campbell as only an off-ball linebacker, instead emphasizing the team’s desire to disrupt the passing game.” The initial inside linebacker grouping suggests this will be his primary role, but it is worth monitoring which group he joins when the two-day minicamp resumes on Saturday, and when mandatory minicamp begins on June 10.
